π€ BLACK LIVES MATTER π€ What can we do? π€ Links to helpful resources available on my Facebook page ‘Rachel Windsor Yoga’ π€ DONATE if we can- we donated our class fees from pregnancy yoga to Black Lives Matter π€ EDUCATE ourselves- there any many fantastic resources available π€ PROTEST- information is available online about how to join protests as safely as possible (during Covid) and there are also petitions we can sign π€ DIVERSIFY- our bookshelves, our playlists, our films, our social media feeds. There are some incredible books listed in the images and I’m always happy to recommend more π For links to book list for children, head to my Facebook page π€ SUPPORT- learn about our white privilege and then use that privilege to support black artists, creatives, entrepreneurs etc. Promote their work and pay them π€ TALK- it will feel very uncomfortable, but we must have the awkward conversations with our white friends and families and all do better. If black friends want to talk, sit back and listen.
If you have any further information and resources you’d like me to add to this post, please post them in the comments

I love teaching Pregnancy Yoga π
@chiarabarontiuk joined my online classes at the start of lockdown and it’s been such a lovely clash of worlds for me. My past theatre life connecting with my new yoga life. One of the benefits of online yoga is being able to teach people from anywhere. Chiara would usually be rocking it in the West End but instead, she’s been able to practice with me a few times a week. Doesn’t she look stunning? π
Here’s what she has to say: ‘I am loving my pregnancy yoga classes with Rachel, especially now I am in my final trimester.
Taking time to connect to my breath, deepen the respect for my changing body, whilst building a closer bond with my baby bump.
Letting go is the hardest asana. My practice has been invaluable for me to help retain balance in these uncertain times we are living in right now.
I am likely to stay home isolating, until this little one joins the world... You can’t always control what goes on outside, but you can always control what goes on inside.
Stay safe.
Namaste ππ»’ .

Mental Health Awarenessπ
As a Yoga Teacher, a lot of people come to me for advice on treating mental illness naturally. And there are lots of great things you can do; Yoga, essential oils, supplements, therapies, but you know what? I take medication. I do all of the herbal teas and meditation and the ‘getting out in nature’ stuff. And then I come home, take my medication and get a good night’s sleep. I have been living with mental illness since my head injury 4.5 years ago (I have Post Concussion Syndrome, with many symptoms, including anxiety & depression). I have tried every holistic remedy and much as there is some great stuff out there, the medication has made the biggest difference. Without it, I would not be teaching Yoga, I would potentially not even be working. I think my life would be very different and my struggles far less manageable. There is much stigma around taking medication for mental illness, particularly for those of us that work in the health and wellness industry. But it is a huge privilege to be able to afford all the oils and organic food and years of psychotherapy. And even then for many of us, it’s not quite enough. So do not feel ashamed for taking your meds, if that’s what you need to do to live your best life. And enjoy your herbal tea π΅ You are not alone π .

My absolute favourite Yoga quote by genius Bernie Clark π If you’re a regular in my classes you will have heard me saying it over and over again. And it can’t be said enough. Especially in this age of the instagram yogi. It’s not about forcing the body into that picture perfect posture. It’s about using these suggested postures to find what feels good for your body π
